The ported application went live on the Itaniums yesterday in a limited way. One small part of the company was redirected to the Itaniums I just added to the production cluster, and are running the ported in-house application.
I was a little worried about this as my concerns about compiler differences had not been addressed. Oh well, I did my due diligence and ensured that the development team was aware of the issue. It's their call to address or not address potential problems like this.
But in spite of my concerns, everything has so far gone fine. I haven't heard of any significant data corruption issues, so I'm keeping my fingers crossed. Let's hope that everything that could materially affect the business was picked up in application testing.
