Recently, I was on vacation in Sydney. I spent nearly four weeks there, and while I was away from the stresses of work, I wanted to decide on what to do regarding further property purchases.
About four years ago, I purchased a very nice little one bedroom townhouse on Sydney's Northern Beaches. As the property is now paid off, I was wondering where to invest next, either in Sacramento or to buy another property in Sydney. Eventually, I convinced myself that with the rental income from the existing place in Sydney, and the reduction in tax liabilities buying a place in Sacramento to live in would bring, I could pay off a place here quickly.
I even had a place in mind in Folsom.
So, upon return from vacation, I called the agent for the place that I had my eye on, only to find that all the condos had be sold in approximately five weeks! Now you know why I had my eye on them.
This (coupled with a few events of a personal nature) got me thinking about what was keeping me in Sacramento, and the answer was really only the pay cheque. So after a little soul searching, I've quit my job in Sacramento and am returning to Sydney.
Of course this decision has made a lot of people happy, so it must be good, right? I hope I don't look back in six months and say "What was I thinking?"
So, if you'd like to offer me employment in Sydney, I'm officially looking...
