Site search

One of the shortcomings of Movable Type is that the site search feature can only search weblog content. If you want to upload information outside of the content manager, the search feature can't find it.

To deal with this limitation, I have recently begun experimenting with swish-e, a pretty powerful indexing and search package.

I am nearly happy with the way that the indexing is working (after going though and marking appropriate parts of the site for no indexing) and I now just have to format the output so it blends in with the theme of the site.

You can use the new search functionality by using the swish-e script, but take note that this page is only temporary and will integrate into the nav bar in the (near) future.

Update: It was easier to integrate the new search that I expected, and it's now available from the nav bar.
