I'm off to the conference formally known as the DECUS Symposium tomorrow. The conference was originally scheduled for New Orleans, and was unfortunately postponed when Hurricane Katrina flooded that city.

My original schedule had me flying from Sydney to New York, and then directly on to New Orleans, but I had to modify my airline reservations in a hurry when the storm did so much damage to New Orleans.

For at least twenty years I have been meaning to go to New Orleans as I'm a bit of a blues and jazz fan. And after I finally got an excuse to go there, the poor city gets a direct hit from a hurricane. Oh dear.

Anyway, the conference organisers did a great job to get the event rescheduled for Orlando at short notice.

I'm intending to blog from the conference as I've done in the past.

Oh, and I'll be the one in the tie dye t-shirt :)

Update: The only internet connectivity from the conference appeared to be wifi, and as I assumed the PCs scattered around the place would have connectivity, I didn't bring a laptop.

While the PCs did have connectivity, it was locked down so you couldn't use it. Not good. Hence no blogging.
