We've finally convinced management that ignoring the performance requirements of the primary business platform is not such a good idea, and in the near future we will be aquiring two AlphaServer GS1280s to replace the GS160s that currently comprise the data warehouse cluster.
Once the GS160s have been replaced, they will be reconfigured and used to replace the aging GS140s that currently make up the production cluster.
This is good news, not only for me as now I shouldn't be hammered with performance issues when our busiest time of the year rolls around, but also for the business as doing this deal saves them significant money on both software and hardware maintenance on an ongoing basis.
