Every twelve months or so, I try and teach myself a new programming language or technology. In the last year, I have been playing a lot with Java and related technologies.
The time has come to move on to something else, and after looking around, I decided to look at Python.
A couple of factors influenced the selection of Python, most notably the fact that Python is available for OpenVMS.
The other thing is that Mark Pilgrim has a pretty awesome Python tutorial online.
Unfortunately, the OpenVMS Python kit requires minimum version 3 of the C RTL patch for OpenVMS 7.3, so it looks like I am rebooting the Alpha at home. I will take the opportunity to apply a bunch of patches that I don't have loaded at the same time...
