Quick offical patch release

The CFS patch I mentioned in the previous post that corrects a hang of the MULTINET_SERVER after upgrading to OpenVMS 7.3-2 has quickly been included in an official patch, VMS732_SYS-V0200.

If you're paying attention, you will notice that SYS-V0100 was skipped. Apparently, there was a major issue with that kit that could render your machine unbootable, so it was hurriedly replaced with V0200.

SYS-V0100 was released for about 3 days, we installed it.

If you look hard enough, it's still on the FTP site (just renamed slightly).

I didn't mean to imply it wasn't released, just that I skipped installing it.

It has to be one of the shortest lived patches I can remember though.

The release notes for SYS-V0200 make scary reading:

"After installation of the VMS732_SYS-V0100 ECO kit, subsequent reboot attempts fail after SYSINT has created the STARTUP process and LOGINOUT begins to run... This problem only affects systems that do not have the VMS732_UPDATE-V0100 ECO kit installed."

It was quite scary.

The only reason we didn't have an issue was because we had the UPDATE-V0100 patch installed already.

Phew,
