Converting to fibrechannel

Today I began the process of moving approximately 175 logical disk volumes from CI based storage to fibrechannel.

A couple of weeks ago, I installed two fibrechannel HBAs in each of the four AlphaServer GS140s that make up the production cluster. This morning, I cabled the storage and the HBAs into the switches, and began moving data.

All in all, I managed to move 62 of the 175 disks. That's a lot of disk. Fortunately, my job was made easy by the planning and configuration of storage that other members of the team did earlier in the week.

Now I just have to hope that all the logical names are correct and noone has done anything silly like hard coding a physical device name.
